Toplaw Consultancy is led by Sharon Hosten, an experienced legal consultant with over 20 years of experience advising and representing clients across multiple areas of law.

Since 2003, Sharon has advised and represented clients in Employment Tribunals, handling both contentious and non-contentious legal matters involving private individuals, employees, and corporate organisations. Her experience includes matters relating to:

Professional and genuinely committed to justice

I initially started my Employment Tribunal case on my own, but eventually reached a point where I knew I needed legal support. I found Sharon Hosten, Director of TopLaw Consultancy Ltd, and I am genuinely grateful that I did. Sharon took over the handling of my case, including communication with the respondent and the Tribunal, and this took a huge amount of pressure off me. What stood out to me most was how much she genuinely cared about the outcome and about making sure I was treated fairly. It never felt like I was just another case to her. She kept me informed throughout, sharing communications with me and explaining what was happening. She also never made decisions on my behalf without discussing them with me first. At times when I was unsure about what to do, she gave me honest advice and explained the legal position so that I could make my own informed decision. What also stood out was the initiative she took in progressing matters. If something needed to be addressed, she did not simply point it out and leave it there; she made sure the appropriate action was taken and that the case continued moving in the right direction. That level of care and attention made a real difference to me. Going through an Employment Tribunal case was stressful and, at times, quite overwhelming. Having Sharon deal with the legal side of things lifted a considerable weight off my shoulders and allowed me to feel that the matter was in capable hands. I sincerely hope I never have to go through something like this again, but if I did, I would definitely come back to Sharon and TopLaw Consultancy Ltd. Excellent!

I approached Sharon Hosten, Director of TopLaw Consultancy Ltd, following an employment dispute relating to discrimination. Sharon became involved after ACAS, when I had reached the stage of filing a claim with the Employment Tribunal and has been providing legal consultancy to me for the many months since this began. From the beginning, Sharon has provided me with detailed advice and guidance at every stage. She has taken the time to educate me about the Tribunal process and employment law as it applies specifically to my case, rather than simply telling me what to do. She has also assisted with document review, proofreading, preparation and fine-tuning, which has been invaluable given the hundreds of pages of documentation involved. One of Sharon’s biggest strengths is her attention to detail. Despite the sheer volume and complexity of the material, she is able to identify what is important and help me focus my time effectively, particularly when working towards deadlines. I have also really valued Sharon’s communication style. She is clear, direct and honest, but equally reassuring. She has a real ability to explain complicated legal issues in layman’s terms, which has made a process that initially felt very difficult to navigate much more understandable. Importantly, Sharon has challenged me when necessary rather than simply telling me what I wanted to hear. That has helped me hugely. Her strategic input and willingness to question my approach have made me think more carefully about my case and how I respond to the other side. The knowledge and understanding I have gained from working with Sharon is enormous compared with where I started. I genuinely don’t think I would have been able to navigate the Employment Tribunal process, or even understand how to respond appropriately to the resistance from the other side, without her expertise, honesty and guidance. The outcome has been exactly what I wanted after a lengthy and detailed process and this is a testament to the impact of Sharon’s consultancy. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone who needs knowledgeable, honest and strategic employment law advice.

Year 12 Virtual Work Experience opportunity

We recently had eight Year 12 students take part in a Virtual Work Experience week with Toplaw Consultancy, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Sharon was incredibly helpful and made the whole process smooth and straightforward. TopLaw is the Tops at Training Young People for the Legal Profession!

At Central Saint Michaels Sixth Form based in West Bromwich, we have used the services of TopLaw Consultancy on two occasions over the last two years and find them to be of high professional standards. Within our Business and Law programmes, we provide vocational courses equivalent to A Level and after a year or two most of students’ progress on to either a Legal Apprenticeship or a Law Degree course of students preferred University. TopLaw Consultancy provided exceptional realistic case studies that enabled students to take part in legal role-plays as either a Paralegal, Lawyer, and Barrister with the Founder of TopLaw acting as Judge. The Consultancy’s resources enabled our Business and Law Cohort 2025 to carry out research to support both their legal arguments and/or debate. TopLaw Consultancy provided quality training materials and scenarios to develop and underpin learners’ understanding and knowledge of the English Legal System for Year 12s and Employment Law for Year 13s. The learners were all given the opportunity to demonstrate their cognitive and analytical skills whilst formulating their arguments or taking part in a debate. Students were given their research tasks well in advance to prepare for like an open-book supervised practical assessment and were observed how well their used precedent law to support and present their cases. Students enjoyed working in teams and were given the opportunity to gain transferrable skills and vocational work experience of operating in a court-like setting. This experience has facilitated our learners gaining high grades in their Law optional unit within their BTEC Business (with Law) qualifications. We appreciate the great efforts of TopLaw Consultancy supporting our learners and look forward to their continued great partnership of Legal Professionalism and pouring into the next generation of young legal professionals for 2026. We have no hesitation in using this Consultancy’s training services again and recommending them to other professional organisations.
